MOB - Men of the Benefice and GOA - girls out alone

MOB: men of the benefice

Why MOB?

The purpose of MOB is to provide the men of St John & St Mark and Christ Church with the opportunity to get together outside of normal church hours (as if an excuse was needed).

A walk in the park

We’ll be meeting up on Friday 18th May for a walk led by Geoff Hamilton. We’ll leave Christ Church at 8pm. This will take in Nuttall Park and the odd pub or two. The latter is purely for scientific reasons of course. We’re respecting the laws of the conservation of energy by immediately replacing any calories lost during the walk.

Then on Monday 18th June we’ll be together to watch England’s opening football World Cup match against Tunisia. We’ll be in The Barritt Room at St John’s Hall from 6.30pm. Kick-off 7pm. Food and drink will be available to help ease the tension…

Please get in touch via the contact page if you’d like more information.

What you missed last time

On April 23rd, St George’s Day, the men got together in The Sundial to discuss all things English. With St George said to be a Roman soldier of Greek origins from an area now in Turkey the scene was set…

English cuisine was a hot topic and whilst it did include Roast Beef and Fish n Chips it also extended to Mexican, Indian and Italian.┬áThe English Football League was mentioned, though it’s fair to say not many who play or manage would be singing ‘God save our gracious Queen’ as their own national anthems. And of course it’s only 100 years since the Royal Family itself changed its name from ‘Saxe-Coburg and Gotha’ to ‘Windsor’.

PS: Thanks once again to Dave Walker for the cartoon.
