Harvest Sunday

The church is ‘dressed’ and ready for our Harvest Sunday at St John with St Mark’s, Bury on 14th October at 10.30am.  You’re very welcome to join the festival us as we plough the fields and scatter! Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers and Cubs will all be with us. Donations of food will go to the Porch Boxes and the Booth Centre. After there will be a Harvest lunch in the hall. Tickets £4.50 each from Rosemarie Ashworth.

Before then the children and teachers of St John with St Mark’s School will have a Harvest Service with us. This will be during the morning of Tuesday 9th October. So come ye thankful people come…

A homemade ‘5 loaves and 2 fishes’ altar loaf for Harvest Sunday. Traditionally these were made from the first fruits of the harvest as a thanksgiving:

    1. Thanks Madge – it all smells nice too! There’s rosemary, lavender and camomile mixed into the displays – as well as the leeks and the garlic!

  1. Just called into Church on my day off to have a look. It seems such a long time since we did this for Harvest, so it was nice to see the efforts that have been made. Thank you to all involved. Let’s have more.
