Being disciples – Advent Bible study

Our Advent Bible studies this year will be based on Rowan Williams’ book, ‘Being Disciples’.

The book was described by the current Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, as ”Here is quite the most beautiful writing on discipleship I know. I am grateful for the inspiration that I find in these pages. I commend it to those who have been on this journey a long time, as well as to anyone who wonders what on earth following Jesus is all about.”

We will be meeting at two venues. One is 150 Walmersley Road on Monday nights from 7.30pm. The other is the hall at Christ Church Walmersley on Thursday afternoons from 2pm. All are very welcome.

The first sessions will be week commencing Monday 26th November and the course will run for 4 weeks:

  • Being disciples
  • Faith, hope and love
  • Forgiveness and holiness
  • Faith at work in society – and Life in the Spirit

These will be all be informal and it’s fine if you just want to listen to what others have to say. But you may just have a question, or a nugget of truth, that could make the world of difference to someone else who’s there if you share it!

‘Being disciples’ will also be the theme for the fourth Cafe Church in our ‘Setting God’s People Free’ series. These will be on Sunday 25th November at Christ Church and Sunday 16th December at St John with St Mark. Both services start at 10.30am. We would love to see you there.
