Covid-19 guidance updated 1st June

Please go to the Church of England site for updated information and links to more online resources. Please also look at the Manchester Diocese website for more local advice.

Clergy can now enter the church building for any or all of the following:

  • pray the Daily Office and/or celebrate the Eucharist on behalf of the community they serve,
  • live stream or pre-record worship.

The updated guidance from the Church of England site on 1st June includes:

  • Updated FAQs on schools and nurseries to include information about reopening of nurseries in church buildings and other church-owned property.

Whilst some Government Covid-19 guidance has been revised, it is still vital that the necessary hygiene and social distancing precautions are kept in place in order to protect the NHS and save lives.

The Bishops have called on the Church to “continue to pray, to love, to care for the vulnerable”.

Currently all Church of England churches are closed for public worship in line with the Government’s instructions. There will also be no Church weddings or baptisms.

Funerals at the graveside or in crematoriums can still take place, but only in line with the Prime minister’s Statement.

Please follow this link for our suggestions on prayer and worship at home.
