Here are the Bible readings for September 2024 which we’ll be using in our churches. We’re still in the long season after Trinity. This month we stick with Mark for the Gospel readings and with James for the New Testament, along with a selection of books from the Old Testament. Please make use of these passages and reflect on what they might be saying to you.
The readings
In James we have the importance of doing and not just listening. Mark includes run-ins with the local authorities and clarifications of Jesus’ ministry, mission and identity. Our Old Testament readings include messages of hope when circumstances were pretty grim.
- Sep 1 – 14th after Trinity: Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9; James 1:17-27; Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23;
- Sep 8 – 15th after Trinity: Isaiah 35:4-7a; James 2:1-10, (11-13), 14-17; Mark 7:24-37;
- Sep 15 – 16th after Trinity: Isaiah 50:4-9a; James 3:1-12; Mark 8: 27-38;
- Sep 22 – 17th after Trinity: Wisdom of Solomon 1:16 – 2:1, 12-22 or Jeremiah 11: 18-20; James 3:13 – 4:3, 7-8a; Mark 9:30-37;
- Sep 29 – 18th after Trinity: Numbers 11:4-6, 10-16, 24-29; James 5:13-20; Mark 9:38-50; or the readings for Michael and All Angels;
