Hall
Key features
The hall building consists of a large main room with separate smaller rooms and a fully equipped modern kitchen. The main room is a versatile space so it can be adapted to your needs. Features include a parquet wooden dance floor, a stage, a large projector screen and wi-fi. Oh, and a glitter ball!
The kitchen has a double domestic oven, two fridges, a food warmer, instant hot water boiler, microwave, cutlery, plates, cups, saucers etc.
The hall is connected by a corridor to St John’s church. There is disabled access between the hall and the church via a lift. There is a ramp into the hall for anyone in a wheelchair or who are not too good with steps.
Please familiarise yourself with the information on the Access page, and where appropriate bring this to the attention of people attending your event or meeting. Please note, it is your responsibility to ensure that your events are accessible, although we will do everything we can to assist you with this – and that you take appropriate Safeguarding measures.
Who to Contact
Please get in touch with the hall manager, June Banks, on 0797 0417 331 to discuss your requirements for hiring the hall. You’ll need to tell June all the time that you’ll need for your event, including setting-up time beforehand and cleaning-up after. Check our calendar to get a first indication of when the hall might be free.
And just a reminder that this is a church hall, which we use after the Sunday morning service, so normally it’s not available till 1pm earliest on a Sunday afternoon. Out of respect for our neighbours we would normally expect any Saturday or Sunday night events to be completely finished by 11pm.

Pricing
Hire charges are from ÂŁ20 an hour for one-off events, depending on what rooms you need, for all the time that you’re in. So remember to include setting-up time before and cleaning-up time after.
The church hall is hired by a variety of regular users for a wide range of activities. These include dance classes, pilates, a painting group, Weight Watchers and Pulmonary Health Care as well as ad hoc parties and socials. It’s also used by our uniformed groups and organisations as well as for church social events and CafĂ© Church. Which is a long way round to saying we’re busy – but we’ll try our best to fit you in!
Sorry but no bouncy castles, inflatables or football/sports parties please! We’ve had damage to the dance floor and to the light fixtures in the past. But we do have soft indoor play equipment available.

The hall is in a residential area and we do ask that you be considerate of our neighbours when parking (please don’t block driveways!) or when leaving late at night.
Insurance
We have Public Liability Insurance with Ecclesiastical Insurance.
This insurance, however, doesn’t extend to indemnify any outside groups hiring the premises. We will therefore ask for written confirmation from any hirers that they have public liability cover for their activities while the church premises are being hired. Most organisations that operate on a regular basis are likely to have insurance cover. Any individuals hiring the premises for a private function should check with their household insurers to ensure that the public liability cover would extend to include the organising of such an event.
What the hall looks like

Above is the hall laid out ‘Cafe Style’. There’s also a pleasant enclosed garden that you can access from both the hall and the church.

How many it holds
Capacity depends on what you want to use it for. Approximately 80 people can be seated around the sides of the main hall if the full dance floor is wanted e.g. for sequence dancing. 100 people max can be seated in a cafe style layout if a smaller dance area is needed e.g. for a Party with DJ. Up to 150 people can be seated in rows without tables e.g. for a play, pantomime or choral performance.
We have several other rooms, such as the one below, which are ideal for smaller gatherings or they can be hired along with the main hall.

How to get here
If you’re using sat nav to get to us the postcode is BL9 6NY. We’re on Parkinson Street on the right hand side as you turn off Walmersley Road. The hall is opposite Seedfield Bowling Club. If you get as far as where they are building new houses, then you’ve overshot!
Look at our How to Find Us page for more details.
We look forward to seeing you!
