Second Lt Harold Wild served in 27 Squadron, Royal Air Force. He lived on Tile Street, Fernhill.

On the 16th June 1918 he was shot down by Karl Bolle who commanded the Jasta 2 squadron. Karl was a ‘Blue Max’ and had studied at Oxford.
