Co-op community support

This is a great initiative from John Pearcey, community support worker at the local Co-op on Walmersley Road in Bury.
“Many of you will know me via a number of groups that I have been involved with over the years. I am now working for the Co-op as a community support worker. We call the role Member Pioneer. One of the things that has always struck me is how many groups do amazing work but do not know of other groups in the area doing complimentary work.
New community support initiative
I am going to set up a monthly coffee morning for local community groups. The idea is to come along, have a brew and a chat while learning from each other what is going on in the area. It is also a chance to pick the brains of others who are more experienced in an area of community work. No doubt you will have areas of expertise that you can help others with.
Our first meeting is to be held at The Green Cafe in Clarence Park (next to the bowling Green). This will be at 11am on Tuesday 19th June. Please accept my apology for short notice. I hope someone from your organisation will pop along and help us form a strong group to develop and direct community work in the Bury East Area.
Please feel free to pass the invite on to any group you know of who need support. Although I am based in East Bury we would welcome anyone to join us.”
