Bible Readings for October 2026

Here are the Bible readings for October 2026 that we’ll be using in both our churches.

If you don’t have access to a Bible, then please go to the Vanderbilt Divinity Library by following this link. It’s not always the same but it’s normally close.

• 4th October – Trinity 18: Isaiah 5:1–7; Psalm 80:9–17; Philippians 3:4b–14; Matthew 21:33–46. God’s vineyard: the call to bear fruit, and the challenge of responding faithfully to God
• 11th October – Harvest: Deuteronomy 8:7–18; Psalm 65; 2 Corinthians 9:6–15; Luke 12:16–30. Gratitude for creation’s gifts, trust in God’s provision, and generosity towards others.
• 18th October – Trinity 20: Isaiah 45:1–7; Psalm 96:1–9; 1 Thessalonians 1:1–10; Matthew 22:15–22. God’s sovereignty: God’s glory extends over all nations; we are called to faithful witness and to give God what belongs to God.
• 25th October – Bible Sunday: Leviticus 19:1–2, 15–18; Psalm 1; 1 Thessalonians 2:1–8; Matthew 22:34–46. Living God’s Word: Scripture calls us to holiness, love of neighbour and a life rooted in God’s instruction.

Praise to God who comes in judgement

O sing to the Lord a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
    tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvellous works among all the peoples.
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
    he is to be revered above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
    but the Lord made the heavens.
Honour and majesty are before him;
    strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    bring an offering, and come into his courts.
Worship the Lord in holy splendour;
    tremble before him, all the earth.
