Like churches everywhere, with the buildings not being open at the moment it means that we are unable to physically pray and worship together. We’re doing what we can to worship on-line and support each other remotely.

However, it also means that we’re not getting revenue from hall lettings, fund-raising events or from the weekly planned giving envelopes. Much of the work of the church carries on though – and we would still like to able to support all the charitable organisations that we’re linked with.

So, please take a look at the suggestions below and see if you can help financially support the church and the work that we do.

Regular direct-to-bank giving

These are payments from your bank directly into the church bank account. Normally these would be monthly. A lot of our congregation already give in this way and it’s really helpful, like now, when there are times when you can’t physically get to church. 

So, if you don’t currently give at all, or give via weekly envelopes, and want to help in this way, then please decide on the monthly amount that you can afford to give and contact your bank:

Direct donation

We now have a ‘Give a donation’ button on the church website, If you’re looking on laptop, PC, or tablet then it’s on the right hand side under ‘search’. If you’re on a phone, you’ll need to scroll past the first few posts.

If you click on the ‘give a donation’ button it takes you to our fundraising page. Then it’s a case of deciding the amount that you want to give and signing-up. And you can leave us a message too if you like. If you can Gift-Aid then please tick the appropriate box to make the most of your donation.

On-line shopping

You can also help support St John with St Mark’s when you shop on-line. 

You can use easyfundraising to shop with over 3,600 retailers – including Amazon, Argos, Go compare, U Switch, Very, Sainsbury, Talktalk…

​Every time you shop, you’ll raise a free donation for the church. It costs you nothing. We get a small donation from the Retailer as part of their own charitable giving. There’s also a helpful widget which reminds you when shopping on-line that you could be raising money for St John with St Mark’s when you are visiting your favourite retailers. 

​It’s really simple to get started. All you have to do is:

2. Sign up for free;
3. Get shopping! Your donations will be collected by easyfundraising and automatically sent to the church.

Websearch

Easysearch combines several search engines together to give accurate and relevant results when searching – and gives the church a small donation each time you use it!

If you don’t see the page below then search on St John with St Mark Church Bury where it asks for cause. This YouTube clip explains.

It only updates once a week and we’ve only just signed-up – hence the very low cause stats! But if enough people use it often enough the numbers will add up.
