August 2022 Bible Readings

|
Here are the August 2022 Bible readings which we’ll be using in church. Please make use of these readings and reflect on what they might be saying to you.
The readings
Amongst the very well known passages in August you’ll find a lot of them are about faith. We also have Abram counting stars, Jesus asking hard questions about treasure and God telling us that if we seek justice for others then we will be like well watered gardens. And who wouldn’t want to be one of those!
- August 7 – 8th after Trinity: Genesis 15:1-6; Hebrews 11:1-3,8-16; Luke 12:32-40;

If you don’t have access to a Bible, then please follow this link to the Vanderbilt Divinity Library. It’s not always the same but it’s normally pretty close.
Amongst the August 2022 Bible Readings we have this from Isaiah. It’s as much a challenge and a promise now as it was when it was first written
Isaiah 58:9b-14
If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil, if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday. The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail. Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to live in.
If you refrain from trampling the sabbath, from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call the sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honourable; and if you honour it, not going your own ways, serving your own interests, or pursuing your own affairs; then you shall take delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride upon the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Jacob, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
