|
Here are the February 2021 Bible readings. Depending on where you live, you may or may not be able to physically get together to worship. But whether you are able to get out or are sheltering at home, please make use of these readings and reflect on what they might be saying to you.
The readings
In February, we move from the season of Epiphany and into Lent. So, we have wisdom and Word, whirlwind and transfiguration, rainbows and wilderness, name changes – and a rebuke…
- February 7th. 2nd before Lent: Proverbs 8:1, 22-31; Colossians 1:15-20; John 1:1-14;
- February 14th. Next before Lent: 2 Kings 2:1-12; 2 Corinthians 4:3-6; Mark 9:2-9;
- February 21st. 1st of Lent: Genesis 9:8-17; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Mark 1:9-15;
- February 28th. 2nd of Lent: Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Romans 4:13-25; Mark 8:31-38;
If you don’t have access to a Bible, then please follow this link to the Vanderbilt Divinity Library. It doesn’t always have the same readings but it’s a good place to start.
The February 2021 Bible readings includes this wonderful passage from Proverbs…
Proverbs 8: 1, 22-31
Does not wisdom call out?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
“The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works,
before his deeds of old;
I was formed long ages ago,
at the very beginning, when the world came to be.
When there were no watery depths, I was given birth,
when there were no springs overflowing with water;
before the mountains were settled in place,
before the hills, I was given birth,
and before he made the world or its fields
or any of the dust of the earth.
I was there when he set the heavens in place,
when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
when he established the clouds above
and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
when he gave the sea its boundary
so the waters would not overstep his command,
and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
Then I was constantly at his side.
I was filled with delight day after day,
rejoicing always in his presence,
rejoicing in his whole world
and delighting in mankind.
