Maranatha
Listen now
|
Our next monthly Sunday evening worship service will be at 7pm on November 28th, 2021. Since this is the beginning of Advent, the theme this time is: ‘Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus’, which is from 1 Corinthians 16:22. The service will be led by Nigel Silvester.
We will hopefully be meeting in the Barritt Room at St John with St Mark’s. But if the Charity Christmas Fair over-runs then we will be at the back of church!
We will also be Zooming for those who can’t make it in person. Currently over fifty people now come together with us, in one format or another, on the last Sunday of each month. So, if you would like to give it a go, or want to know more, then please use our contact page to get in touch.
Paul uses an Aramaic word at the end 1 Corinthians: מרנאתא. In Greek that can either be read as Marana tha (Come, Lord Jesus) or Maran atha (Our Lord has come). The two meanings are particularly appropriate in Advent as we both remember the birth of Christ and look forward to his return.
What is Sunday@Seven?
Sunday@Seven is an opportunity to worship together informally on the last Sunday of each month. There’s a mix of old and new songs, prayers and reflections. If time allows, there is space for discussion too. It’s normally led by Nigel Silvester, our Authorised Lay Minister, ably supported by Cath Hilton.
If circumstances dramatically change for ‘Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus’ then we will update this post as appropriate.
