Here are the November 2021 Bible readings which we will be using in church. Please make use of these readings and reflect on what they might be saying to you.

The readings

November’s readings include Jonah giving a very short sermon, Jesus calling fishermen away from their day jobs, a prediction of the destruction of the Temple, God in a wheelchair (look it up!), Jesus before Pilate and a parable about fig trees…

  • Nov 7th – 3rd before Advent: Jonah 3:1-5,10; Hebrews 9:24-28; Mark 1:14-20;
  • Nov 14th – Remembrance Sunday: Daniel 12:1-3; Hebrews 10:11-25; Mark 13:1-8;
  • Nov 21st – Christ the King: Daniel 7:9-10,13-14; Revelation 1:4b-8; John 18:33-37;
  • Nov 28th – Advent Sunday: Jeremiah 33:14-16; 1 Thessalonians 3:9-13; Luke 21:25-36;

As a matter of interest, Daniel 7 is amongst the few passages originally written in Aramaic within the Hebrew Scriptures.

If you don’t have access to a Bible, then please follow this link to the Vanderbilt Divinity Library. It doesn’t always have the same readings but it’s a pretty good place to start.

It’s not listed above but amongst the November 2021 Bible readings is this psalm for Advent Sunday…

Psalm 25:1-10

To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul.

O my God, in you I trust; do not let me be put to shame; do not let my enemies exult over me.

And do not let those who wait for you be put to shame; let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.

Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.

Be mindful of your mercy, O LORD, and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.

Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for your goodness’ sake, O LORD!

Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.

He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.

All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his decrees.
