It’s our 250th church anniversary coming up in June and we’ve been asking for memorabilia. One of the gems is a St John’s Church Bury Parish Magazine from April 1968 which has some very revealing letters and editorials uncovering what church life was like here 52 years ago.

Here’s our packed September 2019 magazine. There’s a lot going on in the Walmersley Benefice at the moment and you’ll find plenty of news about upcoming events. There are also articles from the Walking Group, Open Group and Mothers’ Union. But there’s space too for prayer and reflection – plus some celebratory photos (including the one above with Vivienne and Barry being photo-bombed by the Bishop).

In it you’ll find articles on the fantastic Open Group talk by Jim Metcalf on Community Action Nepal, our Benefice Boundary walk and updates from the very active Mothers’ Union. We also look forward to the ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ season which runs from Ascension to Pentecost.

Here’s our May magazine. There are articles here on the recent Muslim Christian Forum and details of the walk around our Benefice Boundary. This is about 12 miles long and will be on May 4th. A particularly special date is Wednesday 8th May when Jim Metcalf will be talking to the Open Group about his work with Community Action Nepal. This is a charity founded by Doug Scott CBE. Jim will also be sharing some of his stunning mountain photography.

It has been a long haul! I noticed in a certain large supermarket a notice reminding customers that Easter was on 21st April – and that was at the beginning of March. They must have been worried that after nearly two months of eggs on the shelves customers would be getting concerned about sell-by dates and/or whether, after all this time, they might have missed Easter altogether!
