Thy Kingdom Come – in Bury

Thy Kingdom Come – in Bury

Listen now

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, inviting Christians from around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus.  It started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England. The idea has caught on and it’s now grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

From 10th – 20th May 2018, the time between Ascension Day and Pentecost, churches around the world are being encouraged to join this initiative.

Locally we’re extending the time frame for that with events before and after.

What’s the aim?

The aim is simple and threefold:

  • To join in prayer with the whole family of God the Father
  • To pray for the empowering of God the Holy Spirit
  • That we may be effective witnesses to Jesus Christ, God the Son

Thy Kingdom Come in Bury

In Bury we will begin our celebrations early with the Benefice Boundary Walk on Saturday 5th May. We will be stopping at various places along the walk to pray. Starting at 9am from Christ Church, we’re aiming to finish around 4pm. Further details about the walk can be found by following this link.

During the week beginning Monday 14th May, it is hoped that both of our churches will be open in the afternoons for prayer. This will be from 2pm until a service of Evening Prayer which will be at 5pm but it will depend on having enough volunteers to hand. If you can help us to do this then please use the contact page to get in touch.

Then on Sunday 27th May we will finish off with Sunday @ Seven where the theme will be ‘Build your Kingdom here’.

The stuff of prayer

During the days of Thy Kingdom Come, it is hoped that everyone who participates will deepen their friendship with Jesus. Plus bring others to know Him or get to know Him better. And that everyone will come to appreciate that every aspect of their life is the stuff of prayer.
