February 2022 Bible Readings

Listen now

Here are the February 2022 Bible readings which we’ll be using in church. Please make use of these readings and reflect on what they might be saying to you.

The readings

February’s Sunday readings include: breaking fishing nets, trees by water, a creative God, a storm-stilling one and a shiny one!

  • Feb 6 – 4th before Lent: Isaiah 6:1-8; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11; Luke 5:1-11;
  • Feb 13 – 3rd before Lent: Jeremiah 17:5-10; 1 Corinthians 15:12-20; Luke 6:17-26;
  • Feb 20 – 2nd before Lent: Genesis 2:4-9, 15-end; Revelation 4; Luke 8:22-25;
  • Feb 27 – last before Lent: Exodus 34:29-end; 2 Corinthians 3:12 – 4:2; Luke 9:28-36;

If you don’t have access to a Bible, then please follow this link to the Vanderbilt Divinity Library. It doesn’t always have the same readings but it’s a pretty good place to start.

Amongst the February 2022 Bible readings is this from Jesus…

Luke 6:17-26

He came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea, Jerusalem, and the coast of Tyre and Sidon.

They had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all in the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them.

Then he looked up at his disciples and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets.

But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.”
