Light up the world – S@S
Listen now
|
Our next Sunday@Seven service is May 26th. The theme this time is ‘Light up the world’. This is the strap-line from Thy Kingdom Come , which may get mentioned once or twice during the evening…
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. What began in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.
During the 11 days of Thy Kingdom Come, which starts on May 30th, it is hoped that everyone who takes part will:
- Deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ
- Pray for God’s spirit to work in the lives of those they know
- Come to realise that every aspect of their life is the stuff of prayer
For more details on how to take part, please follow this link to the Thy Kingdom Come website.
‘Light up the world’ refers to the number of prayer events taking place globally during this special time. This year we will be having a service of Morning Prayer at Christ Church at 9.30am on Friday 31st May and from Monday 3rd to Friday June 7th. St John & St Mark will be open for Evening Prayer at 5pm on the same days.
For what we did last year, in our part of Bury, please follow this link.
What is Sunday @ Seven?
Sunday@Seven is an opportunity to sing and pray in a more informal setting than the usual Sunday and weekday church services. It’s led by Nigel Silvester, our Authorised Lay Minister (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), and Cath Hilton (backing vocals and keyboard), plus anyone else who has been volunteered on the night. It lasts around an hour (ish).
From this month there will be an ‘open mic‘ spot for anyone who wants to share a thought for a minute or two, either pre-prepared or off-the-cuff.
If you enjoy hymns old & (very) new then we’d love to see you! There are prayers and meditations. Plus a brew, cake and biscuits to keep you going.
Sunday@Seven is held on the last Sunday of every month. This time we’ll be meeting again at the hall in Christ Church.
We look forward to seeing you!
