Here are the March 2025 Bible readings, which we’ll be using in St John and St Mark’s and in Christ Church as we start the journey through Lent.
The readings
From our Old Testament readings we have Moses with a glow and tells the people to give their first fruits to God. Abram counts stars and God tells everyone to buy without money. In the Gospels Jesus dazzles and is hungry. Then he compares himself to a hen gathering her chicks and tells stories about fig trees. On Mothering Sunday we have lots of perspectives on what mothering can mean…
- March 2nd – Sunday before Lent: Exodus 34:29-35; 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:2; Luke 9:28-43;
- March 9th – 1st of Lent: Deuteronomy 26:1-11; Romans 10:8b-13; Luke 4:1-13;
- March 16th – 2nd of Lent: Genesis 15:1-12, 17-18; Philippians 3:17-4:1; Luke 13:31-35;
- March 23rd – 3rd of Lent: Isaiah 55:1-9; 1 Corinthians 10:1-13; Luke 13:1-9;
- March 30th – Mothering Sunday: Exodus 2:1-10 or 1 Samuel 1:20-end; 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 or Colossians 3:12-17; Luke 2:33-35 or John 19:25b-27;
If you don’t have access to a Bible, then please follow this link to the Vanderbilt Divinity Library. It’s not always the same but it’s usually very close.
The March 2025 Bible readings include this from Psalm 63…
My soul thirsts…
O God, you are my God; I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your name.My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast,
and my mouth praises you with joyful lips
when I think of you on my bed
and meditate on you in the watches of the night,
for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
