The Spirit is willing but… S@S
Listen now
|
Our next Sunday@Seven service is June 30th. The theme this time is ‘The Spirit is willing, but…’
This is the first Sunday@Seven after Pentecost so we imagine that Nigel may take full advantage of that in his choice of songs and readings. Pentecost is when we remember the Holy Spirit being given to the disciples after Jesus’ ascension. The Spirit was given to guide, inspire and teach them – as it does with us today.
‘The spirit is willing, but…’ quote is from Matthew 26:41 – which isn’t the Pentecost passage. Nigel will be talking about how often we’re challenged to do things which are outside of our personal comfort zone. But we’re given the strength to do it!
What is Sunday @ Seven?
Sunday@Seven is an opportunity to sing and pray in a more informal setting than the usual Sunday and weekday church services. It’s led by Nigel Silvester, our Authorised Lay Minister (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), and Cath Hilton (backing vocals and keyboard), plus anyone else who has been volunteered on the night. It lasts around an hour (ish).
There will be an ‘open mic‘ spot for anyone who wants to share a thought for a minute or two, either prepared in advance or off-the-cuff.
If you enjoy hymns old & (very) new then we’d love to see you! There are prayers and meditations. Plus a brew, cake and biscuits to keep you going.
Sunday@Seven is held on the last Sunday of every month. This time we’ll be meeting again at the hall in Christ Church.
If you want something more formal then on the morning of June 30th we will be having a joint Benefice service at 10.30am @ St John with St Mark’s. This will be a sung Eucharist led by Paul Sanderson.
We look forward to seeing you at one or the other or both!
